New York, New York

Start spreading the newwwwws…..

I’ll stop.

But seriously, I’m off to New York and I couldn’t be more excited!  Mainly because I can count on one hand how many days I’ve taken off in the last few years. I’m crNew York, New Yorkaving fun, adventure, and no computer monitor! Also, it’s a girls only trip, which means obviously lots of inappropriate conversations about boys and many glasses of champagne.

This is also a “make-up” trip since the last time we tried to do this there happened to be a natural disaster.

As one girlfriend said over the phone today  “Really, Brooke all we need is a warm place to drink”. Haha. Point.

Looking forward to the food, maybe catch a show, perhaps even be a camera-around-the-neck tourist and go on that Sex and the City bus tour. No itinerary. Not even a map. This should turn out smoothly.

So it’s been a while since I’ve been in NYC. Anything that we MUST see/do/eat/drink? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Love,

Brooke Simmons

Weekend Round Up – September 5th

Ok, ok, I’m a little late posting this.

Back to work/reality/kids-to-school life and long weekend, Tuesday was a get shit done day, and that didn’t include me reminiscing about what I ate and drank on the weekend.

I can’t believe summer is over! It kind of pisses me off to be honest with you. Apart from a few days camping and a brief trip to Northern Ontario for a memorial service/family catch up, I felt like I worked all summer. I guess that’s what happens when your business starts growing. Duh. But really, I don’t feel “summer rejuvenated” like I have some years. Planning to be in NYC in early November for a mini-holiday, so looking forward to that! That’s the next stop on the vacation list anyhow.

So the last long weekend of the summer I made a rule: No housework, no work work, and all play. Princess was finally home from her summer excursions and everyone was happy.
If you look closely you can see Gargamel perched under the yew.
I broke these rules, but we had a starting point anyway. We ended up at a local beach on Saturday. I realized my family is way too ADD to actually have a relaxing day at the beach. They must be moving or getting into something or bothering someone (me) at all times. Quiet book day? Nope. Oh well. Tug did bring a queen sized air mattress to the beach. Yeah, it was a hit with onlookers. There was even a conversation with a stranger that went like this:

“Now what the hell are ya gonna do with that thing? Is that an air mattress?”

“It’s my boat”.

Ah…yes. Good times in the sun. I will say that a queen size air mattress is quite comfy on the water though.

Sunday I started making pina coladas a bit earlier than I should have. I was pretty much asleep by 9pm. I was up early though making apple fritters to go with our Badass Brunch. They actually turned out pretty well!
BadAss Brunch yummyness: Apple Fritters. It started off healthy, and then I deep fried the crap out of it.
Monday we spent visiting family, and I worked in the morning, breaking my rule. And I ended my day having very special barn time with my good friend Tango. He was in a great mood oddly, and wasn’t plotting my death at all so I spent some extra time after our ride giving him some extra attention and carrots. He’s a total sweetheart when he wants to be. And he’s cute as heck.

Tango. Checking out his poop.

That’s it for the round up. RHONJ tonight. Trashy trash! And the week is half over. Win.

Ciao!
