It’s July and some super goal oriented guru’s are doing their “resolution check in” promos.
“Hey it’s not to late to get back on track with your lofty million-billion income plan! Start today!”
Screw resolutions. During the turning of the new year this year I decided to forgo any resolutions. Reason: I suck at them.
Like the time one year I was going to do a juice cleanse for the first few days of the new year and after 6 hours and a meltdown (I don’t do hungry well), I drove myself to McDonalds for a Big Mac.
Or (all) the times that I’ve set lofty resolutions and goals only to fall short because the tide had shifted and they no longer served me. Which makes you feel crumby anyway.
Or I bottom line just failed. Which happens sometimes.
This year I started creating a More/Less list. It’s not definite or concrete. It shifts and changes with the seasons and the reasons. It reminds me of where I’m going and doesn’t stand over me with a stick if I did decide to have an emergency Big Mac. It’s loving and kind and compassionate…even the Less list, as it knows what things really don’t serve me at all…but also understands if my brain is really stuck on wanting that thing that doesn’t serve me.
Less doesn’t mean never again. It just means less.
More doesn’t mean all the time. It just means more.
Here is my current More/Less list:
- Green food
- Self care days
- Passive income
Shots of tequila
Shoulding on myself
Doing work all on my own
Trading hours for dollars
Working on work that doesn’t work for me.
What’s on your list right now?
